RRD-041011-A<\/strong><\/p>\n

We’ve sent a shipment last Sunday to them, but posting the details here, since this really describes what the current situation is like in Iwate, and how we should deal with a somewhat unique situation in Iwate.

\nThis is another group that I\u2019ve communicated with.
\nWe would send the goods to Iwate (Toono City, which is more inland than the devastated coastal areas) which acts as a hub to spread goods out to other districts of Iwate, including individuals with no gasoline, isolated villages where they\u2019ve been abandoned with no relief. Iwate is still too devastated and spread out too far to send everything without the help of locals (in a lot of places\u2026)

About the support activities:
\n\u25a0 Objective
\nThe following three points are the objectives of our support activities and are meant to be reviewed and revised as necessary to accommodate the needs of the affected areas.
\n1) A Wider Area of Support
\nAs a result of the on-site assessment, we have learned over the past couple days that delivery of relief supplies to the bigger shelters has improved. So we are going to stop support of the wider areas for the time being and will instead focus on pinpoint support for the smaller areas. Also, going forward, we will adapt to the changing circumstances.<\/p>\n

2) Pinpoint Support for the Smaller Areas
\nGathering the information through a network of local friends that are well connected to the community, we aim to make pinpoint deliveries of relief supplies to meet the needs of local villages, shelters and individual victims. This is possible only through a sheer force of numbers, so we plan to get help from organizations, voluntary groups and individuals.
\nIn Iwate prefecture, where a majority of its vast land is surrounded by mountains, the Sanriku coast is scattered with small villages. The bigger cities along the Sanriku coast are well supplied with aid, but supplies are far from plenty in a lot of the isolated villages. Many of the isolated villages remain abandoned without any media coverage. Currently, we have liaised with voluntary groups in Tohno city and other local support organizations and aim to deliver relief supplies to these villages. Also, by gathering information from our friends on the Sanriku coast, we are expanding the areas where we can deliver necessary supplies.<\/p>\n

3) Educational Support for School-age Children and Students
\nVictims include a large number of school-age children and students. It will be a long road to recovery, so it is essential to support the education of those who are bearers of the future.<\/p>\n

-Vegetables
\nPlease do not include leaf veggies such as Spinach because these go bad easily. -Ingredients Mayonnaise, Sauce, Soy Sauce, Miso, Sugar, and Salt
\n-Gasoline\/Petrol Cans
\n-Sleeping bags
\n-Ice chests
\n-Canned soup or soup stock
\n-Mochi container
\nOr Styrofoam boxes with covers<\/p>\n

*Due to most drug stores undergoing serious damage, earthquake\/tsunami victims have a difficult time obtaining many over the counter -Portable power generator
\n-Nasal Spray
\n-Eye drops
\n-Heat pads (Such as Salonpas) for muscle aches
\n-Any kinds of Vitamin tables such as -Bags made by fabric
\n-Disposable Gloves(powder free, size S and XS would be more requested)
\n-Paper cup
\n-Paper plate
\n-Toilet paper
\n-Tissue
\n-Tooth paste(For adult and kids)
\n-Underwear(For men and women) except socks
\n-Rice(If it is 10 lbs\/5 kg or 20lb\/10kg packed each, very easy to give out.)<\/p>\n

-Water
\n-Sweat shirts and pants
\n-Any type of energy drinks such as (Lipovitan D. Lipovitan contains taurine for example) -Easy cooked food such as curry, Stew, and Soup
\n-Canned goods that can be easily opened<\/p>\n

-Food (that is packaged for easy distribution)
\n-Cup noodles (Instant ramen)
\n(If it is a carton, assortment can be acceptable)
\n-Bottled drinks or packed drinks (Tea, Juice)
\n-Snacks such as chocolate
\n-Basic goods
\n-Antiseptic substance
\n-Rubbing alcohol
\n-Batteries
\n-Stationery
\n-Painting kit for elementary school kids
\n-A4 paper (8.5x11in)
\n-Notebooks
\n-Note for elementary school kids and
\n-Pens with various colors(3 colored pen etc)
\n-Good books for kindergarten, elementary, junior and high school kids<\/p>\n
